Our commitment
Since 1980, GUILD has built its reputation on field-informed gemological science and trustworthy reporting. Ethical conduct is not a separate initiative—it is fundamental to laboratory independence, education quality, and the confidence of the gem and jewelry community.
Laboratory independence and integrity
GUILD laboratory opinions are based on examination methods, reference standards, and professional judgment. We do not alter scientific conclusions to satisfy commercial pressure. Staff are expected to escalate conflicts of interest and to follow documented procedures for testing, reporting, and quality control.
Anti-bribery and fair dealing
GUILD prohibits bribery, kickbacks, and improper advantages in any form. Business decisions and laboratory services must be based on merit, professional standards, and transparent commercial terms. Employees and partners must never offer or accept anything of value intended to improperly influence a decision.
Confidentiality and data responsibility
Client information, unpublished research, student records, and proprietary methods must be handled with care. Access is limited to those who need it for legitimate work, and disclosures outside GUILD require proper authorization or a legal obligation.
Respectful workplace and equal opportunity
We expect a workplace free from harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. GUILD values professional excellence and seeks to provide equal opportunity in hiring, education access, and collaboration across our global locations.
Responsible communications
Public statements, marketing claims, educational materials, and social content must be accurate and not misleading. References to GUILD reports, methodologies, or affiliations must not imply endorsement where none exists.
Reporting concerns
Anyone who becomes aware of potential ethical or compliance issues is encouraged to report them promptly. Reports may be sent to info{'@'}guildgemlab.com. GUILD takes good-faith reports seriously and does not tolerate retaliation against individuals who raise concerns responsibly.
Continuous improvement
Ethics and compliance expectations evolve with regulation, professional standards, and operational reality. GUILD reviews policies, training, and controls periodically to strengthen accountability across laboratories, education programs, and corporate functions.
